Wednesday, March 28/2012, was a sad day in the world of country music as Earl Scruggs died at the age of 88. He and Lester Flatt made a huge impact on country music and the way we listened to it. They will be remembered the most for "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" and the "Beverly Hillbillies Theme". There will never be another pair like them. They definitely changed the face of country music.
So, Thomas Mulcair is the new NDP Leader. He wasn't my first choice, I wanted Peggy Nash to win. When she dropped out after the second round, I decided not to go to any of the other leaders because I wasn't sure who I really supported outside of Peggy. So, I just sat and watched the rest of the election. Mulcair says that he wants to broaden the Party, I hope he can do that without ruining it. I hear that he has a bad temper, hopefully, he'll know how to use it. Apparently, he's a Scorpio, which means he's a fighter. We will have to keep a close eye on him as he gets to know the caucus and begins his job as our leader. The Provincial Convention, for which I am now a delegate, should be very interesting. I'm really looking forward to going. Now, you have my views, what do you think? Bonnie
My friend and I went to a day-long forum presented by the ODSP Action Coalition. They were talking about the report being prepared by the Commission for the Review of Social Assistance. The report is called Approaches for Reform. If you're worried about the future of social assistance, then I strongly urge you read the report and then join the ODSP Action Coalition and lend your voice to the call for changes. I believe the report is available online.
Welcome to my blog. This is the first blog I've had for a few years, I'm sure I will have a lot to write about. There's a lot happening out there. Of course we all know what Mayor Ford is doing, the budget's coming up, there's the Social Assistance Review, the NDP Leadership race, and so much more. I hope you will share in the discussion with me.
